Severity of Structural Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Does Not Impact Responsiveness to Exercise-Based Rehabilitation.
A study published in Physical Therapy found that the anatomical severity of lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) on imaging does not predict how well patients respond to exercise-based rehabilitation. Patients with more severe structural stenosis showed similar improvements to those with milder findings, suggesting that imaging severity should not be used to exclude patients from conservative exercise programs. These findings support exercise-based PT as a viable intervention across the LSS severity spectrum.
